Napa Valley near SF

Napa Valley is about an hour drive from the northern part of the city of San Francisco. Napa is the best place to be if your intention is to face a fun weekend get away. Its also great to just enjoy good wine or maybe both.

Best Time to Visit Napa Valley

The best time to visit Napa Valley has always been the Fall. You are most likely to not face the large crowd visiting the valley for their summer vacation. It is also about the time when grapes are harvested, so that means new good wine. Spring is also another time to watch the mustard blossom.

Napa Valley is very well known for great food and wine, so you might be wondering which winery to visit. I would advise that you start with the vintages, the good old ones that made Napa a famous place to taste wine. They have been doing it for so long, and they are still in business, that means they should know what they are doing right?

Worthy mentions include Beringer Vineyards, Castello di Amorosa, Domaine Chandon, Frog’s Leap, Frank Family and several other amazing wineries. You should book your wine tasting in advance as the wineries can be quite busy depending on time of year. Although most wineries in the Napa Valley are open all year round, it is still a good idea to book in advance.

Great places to Site See and Eat

Napa Valley is also a place to enjoy great cuisine. From the local burger restaurants to the best diners, you can have it all here. So this means good food to go along with good wine.

You must also know that Napa is not just known for its good food and wine. There are several other fun activities to do including golfing, a ride in a hot air balloon, bicycle trailing in the parks, amongst others. Napa Valley is also home to The Culinary Institute of America, one of the best in the country.

Finally, if you will be doing lots of wine tasting, it is advisable to choose a driving service to carry you around town and ensure that you are safe. If you still have a half a day left and want to perform some experiments, you can. Check out the exploratorium back in San Francisco, only about one and a half hours away.
